LIFE // WITHOUT FACEBOOK

Hello, friends.

Like many of you, I'm sure, I've been in a self-control battle with facebook for quite some time now. I recently touched on it in a personal post, here.

Sometimes I believe God didn't intend for me to keep in touch with 1600 people. In fact, I can say with confidence that I'm sure of this. It becomes overwhelming to keep up with so many lives, comments, likes, etc.

In addition, a small current of pride started trickling into my heart--and I hated it from the moment I saw it. I don't like my consistent eagerness for attention, often through the medium of "likes" and comments. I began feeling like the response I received from facebook was a direct measurement of my worth--as a photographer, friend, family member.

While I understand that facebook is a wonderful tool to keep in touch with people, to express yourself, and to promote your business, I began to see more "cons" than "pros". As pathetic as it sounds--you really don't know how disgraceful it is to admit it--I was addicted to an hour-by-hour (or even more frequent) check-up on facebook responses. Which leads me to my final point:

Life cannot be lived fully this way.

I am a living, breathing, MOVING being with the capability to interact with people face-to-face... with the brain capacity to stick to a task without trailing off for more than 10 minutes... with the passion and (I say this with all humility) talent to succeed in the pursuit of my dreams without having to succumb to the requests of thousands of people who, for the most part, are not directly contributing to those dreams.

I am so ready to be more efficient with my time. I am ready to spend more of my days outdoors and away from the computer. I am ready to enjoy the relationships with my loved ones through one-on-one conversation, whether in person (whoda' thunk it?) or on the phone.

Life is full--and I refuse to cheat myself out of its splendor.

FOR BRIDES // BOW TIES

I'm in love with bow ties.Classic, sharp, cute and sexy at the same time. A guy in a bow tie (my husband, in particular) is enough to make my knees buckle.

When I was introduced to Forage, a savvy, one-of-a-kind bow tie company, I fell in love.

(A) Their fabrics are perfectly selected
(2) Their marketing is straight to my core
(3) Their design is simple and impeccable

When I came across Forage Bow Ties in 100 Layer Cake's Pop Up Shop, I jumped on it.

This is the result:

MARRIED // TARA & ANDREW / PLANTATION FARMS

I should have known how much fun their wedding day would be when I first photographed Tara and Andrew for their Engagement Session. They had such great chemistry and truly exhibited pure joy interacting with each other.

I was amazed at how calm both Tara and Andrew were as ceremony time approached them. Tara--one of the most elegant and stunning brides I have ever seen--carried a light spirit around with her all afternoon. When asked how he was feeling, Andrew simply replied "Ready to do this thing." Each of them held beaming smiles throughout the ceremony... happy from the inside out.

Tara and Andrew--Thank you so much for asking me to capture this day for you. I utterly enjoyed it from start to finish. You were each such great sports in the heat and wind (such an interesting combination for wedding day weather!). You are fun through-and-through and your love for each other is so very evident.Enjoy, friends.

WORLD OF COKE // ENGAGEMENT SESSION / GRACE & TIM

In the very beginning, when Grace and I began to e-mail back and forth about the details of her wedding and the process along the way, I became immediately excited for the details to unfold. Grace is an artistic soul with a ton of creative, elegant ideas. I've even begun to follow her personal blog about wedding preparations... I love the way she communicates with her circle of influence!

Tim and Grace are an extraordinary couple. They met working together for Coke, and are incredibly anticipatory for the years ahead. They have pure hearts and strong minds. Dreams of entrepreneurship linger in Grace's heart, and Tim is an exceptionally supportive husband-to-be. I, for one, am convinced that this duo can do anything they put their minds to.

Grace and Tim--I am so excited to have come across the two of you, and honored to be able to capture such a monumental day in your lives. Grace--I cannot wait to see the [awesomeness] you come up with for your wedding day--cannot wait to capture the love that you and Tim share. The Big Day will be here before we know it!
