Life | {pause}.

this weekend was bittersweet. i lost my poppy (grandfather) on friday evening. he had been battling leukemia for decades now, and struggled through the worst of it the past couple of months. he was a wonderful man: a hard worker, and the most loving grandpa i could ask for... from day one of my life, i hear.

God has been rich in peace and comfort, though. and in such a difficult season to digest, the company of family and friends has been most enriching.

needless to say, this has brought a pause to my work, which has been refreshing. i still wanted to show you all what is coming up soon, so here is a sample of what i've been working on.

{thank you again to friends and family. your love has been a beautiful gift.}

Life | Chelsea Marie.

This is the second post featuring my lovely little sister, Chelsea. What can I say? She is wonderful.

For some reason, the first time I visited Milledgeville, I fell in love with the town. I ranted and raved about how wonderfully quaint and indie it is. However, every single time I have re-visited with someone else, the experience has been less than exciting.

This time me and my little sister went to eat lunch with my mom, who was there for the day on business. We decided that a photo shoot was necessary, considering how much I love this town.

Description in one word: hot. It had to be over 100 degrees. Craziness. We still got a few good shots, though...

{Love you, sis.}

{i just love shoe shots}.

Life | Beautiful Girl.

Life has been CRAZY lately. I have been a part-time "barista" at Starbucks, while investing almost ALL of my extra time into photography. I have had 2-3 portrait photo shoots a week, and around 1 wedding a month.

The past three times I hung out with my friend Beth Ray, I had LITERALLY fallen asleep. Beth is a vibrant, passionate, intelligent woman of God, and hanging out with her is a delightful opportunity.

So... we finally had the opportunity to hang out (and I purposed to redeem myself). And what better way to spend time together than to have a mini photo shoot!? We were completely sporadic and had already lost "the golden hour" when we decided pictures were necessary. These were taken around 8:30 p.m.

I believe that these pictures are an excellent portrayal of my dear friend's bubbly personality.

Enjoy!

I just ADORE the picture on the right.

Flash Back | Rachel & Walter

Here's a bit of my story for you.

My Senior Year of High-School, 2007, my parents bought me a Canon Rebel XT for my Christmas/Birthday/Graduation present. It came with a standard lens, and I was AMAZED. It was my first camera ever, and was head-and-shoulders above the typical point-and-shoot. So, out of amazement, I neglected learning more about photography. I thought the quality of the camera itself was sufficient. Eventually I began to notice a difference between my pictures and professionals, a BIG difference. I couldn't quite pinpoint it, but I guessed that it must be the lens. (Again, I had yet to explore my camera past the presets). I decided to be bold and e-mail an Atlanta photographer named Mark Elkins, to ask him where I should improve equipment-wise. He suggested a 50mm 1.4 lens, and it has been my baby ever since.

This is a flash-back photo from the first wedding I ever shot with the lens. (Still on P setting, where you can manage the ISO, and the camera guesses the rest). I love this shot to this day, although I would still make some slight editing adjustments.

Hope you enjoy, and I look forward to telling you more of my journey in the future.

Creative Session | Amy & Betsy.

So, I was THRILLED when Amy contacted me to do a Creative Session with her. Me and Amy went to high school together (which seems like way too long ago), and I knew from the start I would have artistic liberty with her photo shoot. Needless to say, I flipped out when Amy changed into her first outfit and it was a BEAUTIFUL Betsy Johnson dress. I definitely think Amy has a vintage-beauty to her. SO easy to capture.

These pictures will be more artistically posed and edited than usual, which is right up my ally! Thank you SO much, Amy for such a wonderful opportunity! I hope you delight over these pictures as much as I did!

LOVE these shots! No sunlight added at all in the editing! Beautiful.

Vintage film-shot.

Ah! Absolutely one of my favorites from the shoot.

Whimsical.

Family Portraits | Bersey Family

I have been blessed this summer to have a ton of family photo sessions. I have come to ADORE capturing the love of a parent, the joy of a child, the genuine reactions between siblings.

I have to say that my favorite part of these pictures is the love you can easily see from the parents.

Hope you enjoy the pictures! Thank you, again, Bersey Family, for the opportunity to capture you!

Oh my goodness, he is so cute!
The golden hour has my heart.
Again, hope you enjoyed!
